At Binjai Academy, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. This policy outlines our commitment to maintaining a safe, professional, and nurturing environment.
I. Commitment and Scope

Binjai Academy places the safety, welfare, and protection of children as our highest priority. We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for all young learners (ages 6-8) who participate in our programs.
This Child Safeguarding Policy applies to:
- All mentors and teaching staff at Binjai Academy
- All administrative staff and contractors
- All parents and guardians of enrolled students
- Any third parties who interact with children at our premises
We recognize our moral and legal responsibility to safeguard children from harm. Every person affiliated with Binjai Academy has a duty to report any concerns regarding child welfare immediately.

Our rigorous multi-step selection process ensures that only qualified, trustworthy individuals are approved to teach at Binjai Academy:
1. Academic and Identity Verification
All mentors must provide verifiable proof of educational credentials. Government-issued identification documents are verified against official records.
2. Background and Reference Checks
Every mentor candidate must provide a minimum of two professional or academic references. Additionally, mentors must declare any prior criminal history.
3. Mandatory Safeguarding Training
Prior to teaching any sessions, all mentors must complete our Safeguarding and Child Protection Training. No mentor may begin work until this training is completed.
4. Ongoing Monitoring
Mentor conduct is continuously monitored through parent feedback, classroom observations, and periodic reviews. Annual refresher training on safeguarding protocols is required.
IV. Code of Conduct

Zero-Tolerance Policy: Binjai Academy maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for any form of abuse, exploitation, harassment, or inappropriate conduct towards children. Any violation will result in immediate termination and referral to authorities.
All staff must adhere to the following:
- 1.Professional Environment: All sessions are conducted in our academy premises with open visibility and multiple staff present.
- 2.No Personal Contact: Staff are prohibited from exchanging personal contact information with students or contacting families outside official channels.
- 3.Appropriate Communication: All communication must be professional, age-appropriate, and focused on educational objectives.
- 4.Photo/Video Policy: Any media captured requires prior written consent from parents and is used solely for stated educational purposes.
V. Reporting Procedures

If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, or if you witness or suspect any violation of this policy, you must report it immediately.
Designated Safeguarding Lead
Binjai Academy has appointed a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who is responsible for receiving, investigating, and acting upon all safeguarding concerns.

Response Time: All reports acknowledged within 24 hours
Important: If a child is in immediate danger, contact Singapore Police (999) or Child Protective Service first. All reports are handled confidentially. Retaliation against anyone who reports a safeguarding concern in good faith is strictly prohibited.
VI. Digital Safety

- Recording Policy: Sessions are not recorded by default. Any recording requires explicit written consent from parents.
- Photo Policy: No photographs or videos of students may be taken without prior written consent. Any approved images are used solely for the stated purpose.
- Data Protection: All student data is stored securely and handled in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
